Martumili Artists

Martumili Artists emerged through the collective efforts of Martu individuals residing in the communities of Parnpajinya (Newman), Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu, Kunawarritji, Irrungadji, and Warralong. This art collective is deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of Aboriginal art history. The artists and their families are the custodians of vast expanses encompassing the Great Sandy, Little Sandy, and Gibson Deserts, along with the Karlamilyi (Rudall River) region.

For the most part, Martu people led an autonomous, nomadic desert lifestyle until the 1950s and 1960s, when they sought refuge in settlements due to prolonged and severe drought conditions. Today, Martu individuals reside in their own communities and make periodic visits to regional centers like Newman and Port Hedland.

Alperstein Designs

Alperstein Designs are members of The Indigenous Art Code and the Aboriginal Art Association of Australia which work to ensure ethical dealings within the sector.

All of our products are carefully wrapped and shipped to you from Brisbane, QLD.

We use sustainable wrapping and packaging as much as possible.

If your item doesn't fit in one of our parcel bags, we try and reuse boxes that have been sent to us.

We usually ship your order within 2 business days through Australia Post.

Brisbane Orders - if you would like your item delivered, please let us know. We may able to do this from our base at South Brisbane.

We will happily gift wrap products for an extra $1. This can be added at checkout along with a short note to the person receiving the gift.

When purchasing multiple products don't forget to include in your order notes if you would like the products to be wrapped separately or all together. Around Christmas time, please specify if it is a Christmas gift or not so we can choose the wrapping paper accordingly.
