Starfish Project

Starfish Project is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting women who are escaping human trafficking and exploitation. The organisation’s mission is to restore hope and provide a pathway to a new life for these women, with a particular focus on those in Asia.

A Holistic Approach

Through a holistic care program, each woman receives vocational training, healthcare, safe shelter, and counselling. The program also extends to education grants for both the women and their children, ensuring a comprehensive approach to recovery and empowerment.

Social Enterprise and Career Development

Starfish Project’s social enterprise creates meaningful career opportunities. Women involved in the program are not only able to craft beautiful jewellery, but are also trained to become managers, accountants, graphic designers, and photographers. This practical experience helps them establish independence and develop valuable career skills.

Community Impact

To date, Starfish Project has employed over 200 women and has served thousands more through its Community Outreach Services. The project is proud to be Certified Fair Trade through the Fair Trade Federation, highlighting its commitment to ethical practices.

Experience Freedom

Every week, the Starfish Project team visits brothels, inviting women and girls to embrace the possibility of freedom from their lives in the sex industry. This ongoing outreach is central to the organisation’s mission of breaking the cycle of exploitation.

Establish Independence

Through holistic care programs and life skills training, Starfish Project equips exploited women and girls with the tools they need to build independent lives. The support provided helps them gain confidence and practical abilities for the future.

Develop Careers

Specialised vocational training is available to help women develop careers in fields such as design, photography, and accounting. These opportunities ensure that women can achieve long-term economic independence and personal growth.
