Making a Difference - Pebble Toys

“Our strength is the women we empower and the wonderful products they make”

Making beautiful toys, creating dignified employment.

Pebble Child toys and baby products are made by the women at Hathay Bunano, a non-profit Fair Trade organisation in Bangladesh, founded in 2004.

Hathay Bunano aims to provide employment which fits in with the rhythm of rural life, stems the tide of economic migration to the cities and keeps families together.

Hathay Bunano is Bangla for 'handmade' or 'hand knitted', which is exactly how all Pebble products are made.

Helping women out of poverty and putting smiles on faces worldwide.

Empowering Women

Pebble Child opens doors for thousands of women, offering meaningful work that nurtures both skill and spirit. Each stitch and crochet is learned with care, allowing mothers and daughters to earn a living wage close to home, staying near those who matter most.

Championing Inclusivity

We believe everyone deserves a chance. By intentionally welcoming persons with disabilities, Pebble Child creates workplaces where every individual’s strengths are valued.

Healthy Workplaces

We know that safety is the foundation of well-being. That’s why Pebble Child is dedicated to providing environments where our makers feel secure, supported, and cared for—physically and emotionally.

Protecting the Planet

The love poured into our toys extends to the natural world. Through thoughtful partnerships, Pebble Child helps protect endangered forests and animals, so every creation is gentle on the earth and its creatures.

Transforming Communities

Pebble Child is about more than toys; it’s about lifting entire communities. Through fair trade and sustainable practices, every purchase brings hope to households and hearts across the globe.

Who is Hathay Buano?

The aim of Hathay Buano is to offer women from rural areas who are economically-challenged access to fair, safe and flexible work that is close to home. The women knit beautiful toys, chatting and sharing stories as they work, while earning money for their families' livelihoods and children's education.

"We wanted to create employment that fitted in with the rhythm of village life, and slow the rate of economic migration to the cities. It's all about keeping families together." Golam Morshed, Pebble

Creating Employment Opportunities

Pebble gives disavantaged women from rural areas in Bangladesh the opportunity to work locally, receive a fair wage and have flexibility in their work.

Pebble toys and baby gifts are adorable, fun and have so much character. Each product is hand knitted with love and care.

Keeping Families Together

As Pebble provides local employment for women in Bangladesh living in rural areas, this prevents them from having to move away from their families to urban areas in search of work.

Funding Education

The women who work with Pebble have the opportunity to use the funds they earn to pay for their children's education or their own tertiary education.

Caring for the Planet

In addition to much of Pebble's products being made from organic cotton, Pebble also partners with an organisation called Ecofish. This organisation aims to aleviate the problem of overfishing.

By receiving an income from making toys, local people in Bangladesh do not have to rely so heavily on natural resources for income.

Shopna's Story

Shopna’s story begins in her village called Kauartec which is in Manpura upozilla of Bhola district in the area of Barisal. Her story is a familiar one in this area, where most of the women are married to fishermen. Shopna has two sons - 10 and 3 years old.  Her dream is for them to get an education.

The community spirit in her village is strong because most women are in the same position.  Most women dream of educating their children in order that they will have more opportunity in their lives.   Shopna also dreams of helping her community and the other women in the village.
