Skillfully hand-carved tagua components are beautifully complimented by hand cut and polished brass discs.  Tagua is a nut from a type of palm that grows in the South American jungle. Often known as vegetable ivory, tagua is an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to animal ivory.

  • Navy tagua nut and polished brass
  • Silver plated earring stud posts
  • A collaboration between makers in Ecuador and Peru
  • Fair Trade
  • Earring size 5cm x 4cm

This piece is the result of an international collaboration between makers in Fair Trade workshops in Ecuador and Peru.

Tagua is a natural, organic material and the undyed products may darken slightly over time, this is normal.  If your tagua jewellery is looking a bit dull it can be buffed up with a soft white cotton cloth.  Although tagua is a fairly hardwearing material, please be aware that if you drop it onto or knock it against a hard surface it could chip.  Never immerse your tagua jewellery in water as this can cause it to crack.

Brass is likely to tarnish over time. If you want to restore the original shine to your jewellery we recommend you clean it with brass cleaner and a soft cloth.

All of our products are packaged and shipped to you from our store in Melbourne, Victoria by one of our small team, using FSC certified paper bags and recycled paper pulp. When your beautiful products don't fit in one of our parcel bags, we try and reuse boxes that have been sent to us.

We can gift wrap products in your order at no extra cost. This can be added at checkout along with a short note to the person receiving the gift.

Enjoy $10 flat rate postage available Australia and New Zealand wide and FREE POSTAGE of orders over $150.00.

We will to ship your order within 2 business days through Australia Post. Express Post is also available and can be selected at checkout.

Our products are a curated selection of intentional and purposeful items which work towards alleviating global issues and inequities.
